Build with Nerv

Nerv is a compiled language with indentation-based blocks, typed functions, and native executables. Its command-line tool creates projects, checks code, runs tests, formats source, and builds programs.

Start with a small program:

fn main() -> i64
    println("Hello from Nerv")
    0

Save it as hello.nerv, then run:

nerv run hello.nerv

Start here

  1. Install Nerv on Windows, Apple Silicon macOS, or Linux.
  2. Read the language guide to learn the syntax.
  3. Follow your first project to build, test, and share a command-line program.

What you install

The complete compiler distribution includes LLVM, a linker, and target link support. Nerv embeds its standard library and runtime. You do not need to install Rust or another compiler to build an ordinary Nerv application from a complete distribution.

Native executables run without Nerv installed, on compatible systems of the same operating system and architecture. See the supported platforms before distributing a program.

These guides describe Nerv 1.0. The compiler repository contains the detailed language specification, runtime sources, and additional examples.
